Grown Ups...mostly just for grown ups

Okay...so we watched Grown Ups and I must say that I was very pleasantly surprised. Very nice ensemble comedy grouping and they all seemed to work well off each other. I did find David Spade's token single guy character a bit stereotypical but hey it is an Adam Sandler flick. Best friends and guys who grow up like this definitely understand the "She's your daughter" aspect. Doesn't mean we won't check her out if she is legal and new...but I digress.

Salma Hayek was beautiful as always but her character did have me reaching for the screen to choke her out and the SRK's had me wanting to wring their necks.

All in all, I laughed much more with this movie than I did with Date Night. So Izzy gives 2 thumbs up!

The Hangover

Ok, so I watched the Hangover finally. It had many funny moment throughout the movie. There were also many moments that did nothing for me. Naked man jumping out of the car was one of those moments. Why? Sure, it is kind of funny, but was really pointless. Nice buddy film, overall. Well worth the rental, probably would not buy it though.

The Saints Have Returned With a Vengeance

Oh my God!! So, as the official head of the Best Buy 172 Boondock Saints Cult, I must say that the sequel to The Boondock Saints was well worth the wait. Thank you Troy Duffy for doing justice to the fans of the Saints.
For years we waited, prowled around on fan pages, passed copies of the DVD amongst friends, told of its greatness in stores, offered the coke guarantee that it would indeed be one of the greatest films they had ever seen. Thank you.

Peter Fonda. After your turn in Ghost Rider, I thought I was doomed to think of your glory days in the past, dead and long gone. But, no, my appreciation and faith in actors was restored with your performance. Kudos.

*******Spoiler Alert********

The return of Willem Dafoe......brings tears to my eyes and warms the heart of this tubby buddy. I have often told others that upon first seeing the original and Dafoe's portrayal of Agent Smecker, I wondered why Dafoe would take this role. But, upon further consideration, you realize that no one else could have done the role justice.

Yes, it has been years since the boys have been around, but they have not lost their touch. The fraternal bond is apparent and continues to be believable.
While poking fun at action movies, the use of props like a rope because it was seen in a movie, or any number of insane situations; Duffy brings a "realism" to the boys and their experiences that one must enjoy.

If you are male and do not enjoy this movie, go ahead and turn in your guy card. You no longer need it.

That is all.

First "Movie" Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths

Ok, so the first movie to be reviewed is Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths. So technically it is a cartoon movie, but hey, what the heck. The storyline was a decent one, but for the purists was not a adaptation of the DC comic story arc of the same title. This film introduced the Multiverse and the world containing Ultraman, Owlman, and Superwoman.

The art was nicely done, sound was polished, the biggest fault I found was in some of the voice actors used. The biggest failure in this, I believe was the actor chosen to voice Superman, Mark Harmon. While Mr. Harmon is a fine TV actor, the voice of Superman he is not.

James Woods as Owlman was fun, William Baldwin turned in a good performance as Batman, Chris Noth as Lex Luthor was both surprising and enjoyable.

Gina Torres as Superwoman brought an air of seductive villainy I found very appealing. Vanessa Marshall contiunues her animated work with a nice turn as Wonder Woman.

Once again, this was a nice animated film, showing some decent characterizations. With a glimpse into the background of J'onn J'onnz, I am hopeful for a Martian Manhunter movie.

That is all.

Start of a new era!

Ok guys, fasten your seatbelts and get ready for an adventure into the mind of a movie fanatic. I will be blogging about movies and nothing but movie related items on this blog. Ok, so I also may blog about the process, actors or actresses as well. But it is my blog and I can do what I want. So get ready to enjoy what I have to say. There will be polls as well, you may even get a chance to suggest a movie for me to watch as well. Stay tuned.
